Underdash Record Player Restoration

Underdash Record Player Restoration

under dash record player

From 1956-196??, Chrysler offered a rare option in its cars – an underdash record player. Their own Highway Hi-Fi was offered in 1956 and 1957, while record players from other vendors, including RCA and ARC, were offered in the later years. The 1956 Hi-Fis play 16-2/3 RPM records, which were sold by Columbia Records. The later record players play 45 rpm records, giving the driver and passengers a much wider choice of music.

Typically, these record players need a full restoration from the inside out, as the rubber shock mount cushions damage the interior mechanisms when they decay over time.
