Bob Rodger issued a planning letter announcing that the 426 hemi would now appear in passenger cars; The specifics included: 2-four barrel carburetors, cross tie bolt main bearing caps, cast iron exhaust manifolds, solid lifters (preferred), forged pistons were acceptable but thermally controlled were preferred, automatic and 4-speed manual transmissions, no A/C was required, and the “manifolding and camshaft were to be designed to give the best high speed power while still maintaining a reasonably driveable vehicle for summer/winter.”
