The ram manifold cast heat inlet elbow is generally the most fragile part
of the ram induction system. It directs exhaust heat into the pre-heat
chamber under the carburetor, as well as helping to support the weight of
both the carburetor and the intake manifold. This elbow is prone to
cracking and breakage in the flange area.
This reproduction elbow, while giving the appearance of original, provides
extra strength in the flange area, and is cast of an alloy superior to the
original.

Heat riser block-off plates began life in the factory as part of the ram
manifold casting. In order to install the manifolds on the engine, the
block-off plates were band-sawed out of the ram manifold mounting flange.
These cut out plates were then installed as separate parts.
Unfortunately, this process was done by hand, so no two block-off plates
are exactly alike. In fact, there can be variations of 3/8" or more
between plates on the same car. Also, some ram manifolds had a recess
spot-faced into the mounting hole area prior to sawing out the block-off
plates. Some manifolds had two recesses, while others had none. These
recesses varied in depth by over 1/4", as they were also machined by hand.
Therefore, these reproduction block-off plates are cast extra long so that
they may be cut to the exact length and angle to match each particular ram
manifold. If the manifold has a spot-faced recess, the block-off plate
will need to be spot-faced to match.
