For sale is an unusual Chrysler 300F. In 1960, the Chrysler corporation
produced only 964 of these coupes, and it is estimated that only 5% of
these cars were painted Toreador Red. The 300Fs boasted a 375 hp, 413
cubic inch engine that delivered an incredible 495 lb/ft of torque.
The dual 4-barrel carburetors on the 30" long ram
manifolds added an additional 45 lb/ft of torque over the performance of
the 300E. The Chrysler 300F
cars were the class of the field at Daytona, where six of them took the
first six spots in the Daytona Flying Mile. 1960 was also the first
year of Chrysler's famous unibody construction and electroluminescent
instrument panel lighting. The cars were equipped with four
individually upholstered leather
bucket seats, and a full-length console that housed window controls and a
tachometer. The front seats swivel out for ease in entry and exit.
History of this particular 300F
This 300F was shipped to Cypress Motors in Monterey, CA on May 2, 1960. It resided in California for its entire life until coming to Washington state in about 1988. It has been driven less than 2000 miles since 1987 and has been stored indoors since its arrival in Washington.
Standard features that came with all 300Fs (and are on this car)
include:
The car is complete. It is currently in primer, and was originally
Toreador Red (paint code PP1). The wheel wells are not rusty; in fact, you
can still see the original spot welds. The floor pans are quite nice;
we've shown a picture of the right front passenger well as an example.
A few years ago, the original engine was removed and professionally
rebuilt. It was incorrectly painted blue, and has not been re-installed.
At some point in this car's life, a previous owner decided to lighten it
for racing. We suspect that alcohol may have been a factor. The owner used
a hole saw and drilled holes in the radiator support, the hood latch
support panel, and the braces inside the rear quarter panels. They also
cut out the braces on the underside of the decklid. Included with the car
are replacement hood latch panel, radiator support, braces inside the rear
quarter panels, and the rear body panel that has a very usable trunk lip.
We will install a nice black decklid (shown in the photos).
